Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Health and Population, Dr. Sudha Gautam, today.
According to Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the meeting—held at the Ministry—highlighted the historic and unparalleled friendship between Nepal and India. Discussions focused on making the existing bilateral partnership in the health sector more sustainable and effective.
During the meeting, Minister Gautam expressed gratitude for India’s continuous support in Nepal’s health sector, noting the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries. She said that maternal and child health, mental health, health insurance, enhancing testing capacity at the National Medicine Laboratory, and improving the health of Nepali migrant workers are among the ministry’s top priorities.
Ambassador Srivastava reaffirmed the importance of Nepal–India relations and pledged India’s support for upgrading the National Medicine Laboratory, including assistance in constructing infrastructure, providing necessary equipment, and training human resources.
