
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Kathmandu today. He landed at 9 a.m. via a special aircraft and is reported to proceed directly to Baluwatar to meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Invited by Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amrit Bahadur Rai, Misri’s visit aims to formally deliver an invitation for Prime Minister Oli’s official visit to India scheduled for the last week of Bhadra, and to discuss the agenda of the upcoming bilateral talks.
After meeting Prime Minister Oli at 10:30 a.m., Misri is scheduled to meet President Ram Chandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas. Following the presidential meeting, he will proceed to Budhanilkantha to meet Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
After meeting Deuba, Misri will go to Khumaltar to meet CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda). Following this, a bilateral-level meeting is planned with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.
After the secretary-level talks, Misri will meet Foreign Minister Dr. Arjun Rana Deuba. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also arranged a dinner in honor of Secretary Misri.
According to sources, Secretary Misri is scheduled to visit Pashupatinath Temple on Bhadra 2 before returning to India.
