The interim government has canceled facilities provided to personal secretaries of MPs, mayors, and other political officeholders. The Ministry of Finance has communicated to central ministries, provinces, and local levels that, except for the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker, Chairperson of the National Assembly, provincial chiefs, and ministers of the federal and provincial governments, personal secretary facilities for other political officeholders, including MPs, are withdrawn.
The decision also states that ministries will no longer maintain offices for the personal secretariats of political officeholders, including ministers of the federal and provincial governments. According to the notice issued by the Finance Ministry, “Ministries will not provide office space for the personal secretariats of ministers and other political officeholders. Employees of such secretariats will not be entitled to vehicles, foreign travel, or other material facilities.”
The government decision specifies, “Facilities for personal secretaries of MPs and other political officeholders, except the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker, Chairperson of the National Assembly, provincial chiefs, and ministers, are canceled.”
It has also been decided that a maximum of three personnel can be appointed in the personal secretariat of federal and provincial ministers and provincial chiefs. Press coordination will be handled by the spokesperson or information officer of the respective office, without additional appointments.
Officials and employees at the federal, provincial, and local levels are instructed to use old vehicles, mobile phones, furniture, laptops, desktop computers, and motorcycles.
Office materials such as buildings, tables, chairs, cupboards, sofas, office equipment, and furniture, which were damaged during the recent Jana Andolan (people’s movement), will be reused from nearby offices, with the handover authorized by the head of the office.
In emergency situations, no additional posts will be created except for technical staff. Temporary or contractual staff beyond the approved posts at the federal, provincial, and local levels will not be permitted, as decided by the Council of Ministers.
