Today, the world is observing International Bank Day, which aims to inspire banks and financial institutions to play an active role in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting climate-friendly finance, improving living standards, and supporting inclusive economic growth.
Similarly, today is also the International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures, which has been observed from this year onward at the call of the United Nations.
The UN General Assembly officially declared this day last June with the objective of:
- Raising awareness about the negative impacts of unilateral coercive measures that are not in line with international law and the UN Charter.
- Encouraging cooperation, solidarity, and diplomatic engagement among nations.
This day highlights the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, understanding, tolerance, and multilateralism as the foundation of international relations.
