The ongoing war involving Iran, Israel, and the United States has entered its third day, further escalating tensions across the Middle East. Amid the intensifying conflict, Iran has claimed that it carried out an attack on Saudi Arabia’s key oil refining facility, Ras Tanura.
According to international news agency Reuters, the refinery was shut down following the attack. The facility operates under Saudi Aramco and has a daily production capacity of approximately 550,000 to 600,000 barrels of crude oil.
Ras Tanura is regarded as one of the world’s largest offshore oil loading terminals, exporting significant volumes of crude oil via tankers to the United States, Asia, Europe, and other regions.
Meanwhile, senior Iranian national security official Ali Larijani on Monday ruled out any negotiations with the United States. He denied reports suggesting that Iran was seeking to resume talks with Washington. Iran has also claimed that it has resumed attacks not only on Israel but also in Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
On another front, the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah has reportedly joined the conflict. The Iran-backed group claimed to have carried out bombardments at various locations in Israel and declared it would avenge the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
According to Al Jazeera, the United States and Israel have jointly conducted attacks on more than 1,000 locations in Iran so far. It has been claimed that over 2,000 bombs were dropped within the first 30 hours of the conflict.
Reports indicate that more than 200 people have been killed and over 740 injured in the strikes. In one reported incident, a missile hit a school, killing 180 female students and injuring 45 others.
The conflict reportedly began on February 28, with claims that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of fighting. Additionally, it has been reported that three American soldiers were killed on Sunday.
