Iran carried out a missile attack late Wednesday night on the Ras Laffan gas facility, the largest gas processing site in Qatar, causing major damage and fire outbreaks.
Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to control the situation. Qatar has blamed Iran for the attack, with its Foreign Ministry stating that targeting civilians and critical infrastructure has “crossed a red line.”
Qatar warned that such actions could further destabilize the entire region and called on all countries to work together to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace.
Meanwhile, Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei has threatened retaliation for the killing of security chief Ali Larijani. He warned that “every drop of blood has a price” and vowed that revenge would be taken soon, adding that such attacks would strengthen rather than weaken Iran.
Earlier on Wednesday, the United States and Israel reportedly conducted airstrikes targeting the South Pars gas field and other oil and gas facilities in Asaluyeh, southern Iran. The South Pars field is considered the largest natural gas reserve in the world.
Reports indicate that the strikes targeted gas facilities, petrochemical infrastructure, and oil installations, with additional attacks also reported in the Bushehr region.
