The Ishwar Pokharel faction of the CPN–UML is set to hold a press conference on Monday as the party heads toward an internal leadership contest between KP Sharma Oli and Ishwar Pokharel in the upcoming General Convention.
The event has been scheduled for 11 AM at Hardik Hotel, Bagbazar, where senior leaders including UML Vice-Chair Surendra Pandey, Yogesh Bhattarai, and others from the Pokharel camp are expected to participate and present their stance.
Earlier, Press Chautari, an organization of journalists close to UML, had organized a program inviting leaders aligned with Oli to publicly express support for him. Meanwhile, Pokharel has reportedly secured backing from former UML Vice-Chair and former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s group.
The 11th National General Convention of the CPN–UML is scheduled to take place from Mangsir 27 to 29, where the party will elect new leadership.
