Israeli intelligence agencies have reportedly obtained a video of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who was taken hostage in Gaza, according to Israeli media reports. The video is expected to be released on Wednesday evening, as reported by local outlets.
The Hostage Families Forum announced the discovery on Wednesday morning, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Quoting Bipin’s family, the organization said in a statement:
“This proof of life obtained from Gaza, which we share with you today, gives us unwavering hope that he is still alive.”
Bipin Joshi had arrived in Israel just three weeks before the October 7 massacre as part of an agricultural training program. He was abducted from Kibbutz Alumim, where several other Nepali nationals were also residing.
According to a Wall Street Journal report from November 2023, Bipin heroically saved the lives of others sheltering with him during the attack. When two grenades were thrown into a windowless room, he managed to grab one and throw it out, but the second exploded before he could react, seriously injuring five of his companions.
As reported by The Jerusalem Post, Bipin was taken to Gaza by Hamas and was at one point held at Shifa Hospital. Until now, no concrete evidence had confirmed his survival—making this newly obtained video the first proof that he may still be alive.
