Jhapa and Dharan will compete for the title of the ongoing Fifth International Invitational Sirijanga Gold Cup in Tellok of Taplejung on Monday. New Star Club Birtamod of Jhapa and Marig Football Club of Dharan will take the field with the aim of lifting the trophy.
In the semifinals, Dharan advanced to the final after defeating the host Tellok Sporting Club 4–2 in a tiebreaker. Similarly, Jhapa secured their place in the final by defeating Myanglung Sporting Youth Club 5–2.
The tournament, which began on Mangsir 23 to mark the birth anniversary of Sirijanga Singh Thebe, featured eight teams, including India’s Parijat Football Club.
The tournament winner will receive a cash prize of NPR 300,321, while the runner-up will receive NPR 150,321, along with trophies, medals, and certificates. The organizers have also arranged cash prizes for players who excel in various categories during the tournament.
According to the organizing club, the competition was held to promote locally produced agricultural products and to publicize the tourist destinations of Sirijanga Rural Municipality through sports.
