The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has urged the government to pay serious attention to maintaining peace and security in the country.
During the all-party meeting called by President Ramchandra Paudel on Friday, JSP Nepal leader Prakash Adhikari warned that the security situation often becomes fragile during elections. He cautioned that the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 could be even more challenging from a security standpoint. He emphasized that the government must ensure an environment where citizens can cast their votes peacefully and confidently amid the current difficult national circumstances.
Adhikari also expressed concern that recent activities of the government and the Election Commission suggest a tendency toward bypassing political parties. He criticized the Commission for moving ahead with election-related programs without consulting the political parties.
Furthermore, he stressed the need to end the prevailing impunity seen after the GenZ movement and called on the government to strengthen the morale of the security forces.
