The main highway connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu, Kantiraj Path, reopened on Saturday at 11:15 a.m.
The road had been completely blocked since Friday evening at 5 p.m. due to a landslide in the Bhimphedi–8, Bharyangdanda section. Prompt action by the Thinhang Area Police and the Road Department led to an intensified clearance operation from early morning. After about 18 hours, the highway was reopened, providing relief to stranded passengers.
Similarly, a landslide on the Tribhuvan Highway near Bagjhura in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality–1, approximately 500 meters west, was cleared after it struck around 10:10 p.m. on Friday, fully obstructing traffic. With the assistance of security personnel and local residents, the road was partially reopened in one direction from 12 noon on Bhadra 7, according to the Makwanpur District Police Office.
Heavy rainfall on Friday had also blocked smaller alternative routes from Hetauda to Kathmandu, including Sisneri and Fakhel road sections, leaving travelers stranded for hours. The Road Department has stated that efforts to reopen these routes are ongoing.
Meanwhile, a large landslide in Kamalmatta, Hetauda, remains to be cleared. Due to the significant accumulation of soil and rocks, reopening the road is expected to take additional time.
