Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol departed today for Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the World Youth Summit, scheduled from September 2–4 (Bhadra 17–19).
The summit is organized by The Forum of Young Global Leaders to prepare the next generation for leadership in a changing world. The forum brings together leaders under 40 years of age from diverse fields including education, arts, culture and sports, business, civil society, media, politics, and social entrepreneurship.
The summit will provide opportunities for dialogue and networking among young leaders from various sectors, as well as exchange of learning and experiences. It will help participants understand different regions and contexts globally.
Before departing, Dangol said, “This is the first meeting after the selection of young global leaders. It offers an opportunity to learn about possibilities in different environments. The most important aspect is that young leaders from various fields come together, which will help us understand the global context and advance our own domains with maturity.”
She added that courage, clear vision, and collective purpose in leadership in a transforming world are expected outcomes of the summit. Dangol will deliver two presentations during the event.
Earlier, in Baisakh, Deputy Mayor Dangol was selected for the World Economic Forum 2025 as part of the global youth leaders’ platform, recognized for inspiring youth and linking cultural identity with modernity.
From South Asia, 11 representatives were selected, with Dangol being the sole representative from Nepal. Among 116 young leaders under 40 from 50 countries across seven sectors, she represents the government sector. Dangol was previously a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers hub in Kathmandu.
