Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) is set to resign from his post today. According to the schedule, he will submit his resignation today and participate in the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) central committee meeting at 2 pm.
The RSP central committee meeting is also being held today to finalize candidates for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti informed that the meeting has been called for 2 pm.
“Today as well, the central committee meeting is being held for the House of Representatives election. In today’s meeting, senior leader Balen Shah will also participate after resigning from the post of Kathmandu mayor,” Burlakoti said.
Balen Shah, who was elected mayor of Kathmandu in the 2079 local elections as an independent candidate, is now set to contest the House of Representatives election from Jhapa-5.
Following the central committee meeting, RSP Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane and Balen Shah are scheduled to travel to Janakpur later today.
