On the occasion of Koshi Province Visit Year 2082, the Koshi Tourism Festival will be organized at Barahakshetra in Sunsari.
The festival will take place from Chaitra 25 to 27, supported by the Koshi Province Government. The announcement was made during a press conference held at a resort in Thakurbari, Barahakshetra.
Festival Chairperson Angat Rai said the event aims to promote the banks of the Saptakoshi River as a major tourist destination, while also publicizing local religious and cultural heritage and preserving endangered arts and traditions.
According to Co-coordinator Bhavish Shrestha, the festival will feature traditional cultural dances and processions. Throughout the event, visitors will be offered wildlife and bird watching at the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, a visit to Ramduni Temple, and sunset viewing at Borabandh.
Evening programs will include performances of Lakhe dance and Dhaan dance. On the final day (Chaitra 27), domestic and international tourists will be taken for दर्शन at the Barahakshetra Temple. Adventure activities such as rafting to Borabandh, jet boating, ATV riding, boating, and beach sports will also be organized.
The festival is expected to attract visitors from various parts of Nepal, India, and other countries. Organizers have also arranged local organic cuisine for guests.
Keshav Fuyal, an officer at the Tourism Office in Dharan, expressed confidence that such events will significantly contribute to tourism promotion in Koshi Province and help showcase the tourism potential of the Koshi riverbanks to the international market.
