KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) and outgoing Prime Minister, has claimed that conspirators infiltrated last week’s Janjagaran (JENJI) protest and instigated violence.
Writing on social media platform Facebook on Friday, Oli stated, “During last week’s Janjagaran protest, which was supposed to be peaceful, infiltrators caused violence as they had planned. Our youth lost their lives in the process. The government had not ordered the demonstrators to be fired upon.”
Oli also demanded an investigation into the use of automatic firearms not held by the police.
He added, “An inquiry must be conducted into the firing with automatic weapons not possessed by the police. I once again express my sorrow over the incident, pay tribute to the deceased youth, and wish speedy recovery to the injured.”
