KP Sharma Oli has been elected chairperson of the CPN-UML, while Shankar Pokhrel has won the position of general secretary. According to the vote count completed on Thursday, candidates backed by Oli secured victory in 17 out of the leadership positions, with only two posts going to candidates outside his camp.
In the chairperson race, KP Sharma Oli received 1,663 votes.
In the vice-chairperson category, Prithvi Subba Gurung secured 1,737 votes, Bishnu Prasad Paudel 1,675, Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ 1,516, Gokarna Raj Bista 1,368, and Raghuji Pant 1,258 votes.
For the post of general secretary, Shankar Pokhrel won with 1,228 votes.
In the deputy general secretary positions, Lekhraj Bhatta received 1,452 votes, Yogesh Bhattarai 1,348, and Raghuvir Mahaseth 1,368 votes.
In the secretary posts, Mahesh Basnet secured 1,544 votes, Padma Kumari Aryal 1,530, Chhabilal Bishwakarma 1,506, Sherdhan Rai 1,503, Hikmat Kumar Karki 1,337, Khag Raj Adhikari 1,231, Yamlal Kandel 1,185, Rajan Bhattarai 1,181, and Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal received 1,108 votes.
