Chairperson of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has said that the party carries an extraordinary responsibility on its shoulders amid the country’s difficult circumstances.
Addressing the first meeting of the newly elected Central Committee chosen from the party’s 11th General Convention, Oli said the Central Committee must fulfill this responsibility with integrity and enthusiasm.
Chair Oli claimed that the 11th General Convention was grand and successful in every respect. He acknowledged that some problems have appeared within the party from time to time but stressed the need for collective awareness to ensure that such weaknesses do not recur in the future.
“Our voice must be one. We will move forward in line with the policies passed by the Second Statute Convention—not out of tune or disorder, but in rhythm,” Oli said.
He urged party leaders not to air dissatisfaction or grievances through public media and instead present any disagreements or concerns directly to the leadership, either verbally or in writing.
“Discipline is indispensable in society, and even more so within a political party that leads the process of building an advanced society. Within the UML, which stands at the forefront, firm discipline is essential,” Oli said. “The UML is not a disorderly party that would burn Singha Durbar while wearing the party flag. One cannot act against collective effort and interest in the name of personal opinion. From now on, party meetings will also be conducted in a highly disciplined manner.”
Stating that various misconceptions are being spread against the UML, Oli urged leaders not to be influenced by such narratives. He clarified that there are no factions or panels within the UML anymore and emphasized the need to move forward united as one.
Noting that the country is currently in a difficult situation, Chair Oli asserted that it is the UML that will lead the nation from hardship toward a smoother and more stable path.
