A landslide has blocked the Manma-Bihani section of the Karnali Highway in Kalikot district since 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
The slide occurred at Bihani Charegad in Khandachakra Municipality-5, Kalikot, halting vehicles traveling from Jumla and Mugu toward Surkhet. Kalikot Police Chief Tek Bahadur Rawat reported that heavy rainfall overnight caused the landslide in the morning.
A JCB machine has been dispatched from Pilibato remove the debris. Officials estimate it will take more than half an hour to clear the blockage and reopen the road. However, passengers have expressed frustration over delays, saying the dozer has not arrived on time despite promises.
Due to the blockage, vehicles heading toward Jumla are stranded at Tadi Bazaar. Frequent rainfall has caused recurring landslides that obstruct the Karnali Highway.
