A massive landslide has struck the Tuin Khola area of the Narayangadh–Muglin road section, covering about 100 meters of the highway. The landslide began around 6 PM on Friday evening and continued throughout the night, repeatedly depositing debris on the roadway.
According to Narayan Lamichhane, Chief of the Chitwan Division Road Office, the slide originated from a height of roughly 100 meters. Continuous rockfall made it impossible to clear the debris overnight. With daylight on Saturday morning, clearance work has begun using loaders from both sides of the blockage, and an excavator from Seti Dobhan camp has also been dispatched.
Lamichhane estimated that if no further landslides occur, the road could be cleared and reopened to traffic within about four hours.
On Friday afternoon, smaller landslides had already been cleared several times, but the road was completely closed again after 6 PM, forcing travelers to remain stranded overnight.
The landslide site lies about 2.5 kilometers toward Narayangadh from Muglin.
