A landslide triggered by heavy overnight rainfall has blocked traffic along the Prithvi Highway. The incident occurred at Bandre Mode in Ward No. 10 of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading.
Both lanes of the highway have been obstructed, causing long queues of vehicles. Night buses, cargo trucks heading towards Kathmandu, and vehicles bound for the Terai from the capital have all been stranded.
According to Dhading District Traffic Police Chief, Inspector Suraj Shrestha, two excavators have been deployed to clear the debris. He estimated that it may take two to three hours to reopen the road due to the scale of the landslide.
