A landslide at Jawang Khola in Ward No. 10, Benighat-Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading has completely blocked the Prithvi Highway.
The landslide, which began last night, had already covered around 80% of the road. Around 5:30 AM, a large rock along with part of the hill collapsed, resulting in a full closure of the highway. Currently, three machines are being used to clear the debris, but cracks in the upper section pose a high risk of further landslides. Dhading Police Chief SP Bhesraj Rizal estimated that clearing the road will take at least five hours or more.
Meanwhile, a landslide at Tuin Khola on the Narayangadh–Muglin road in Chitwan has also blocked traffic. According to Engineer Arjun Ghimire of the Chitwan Division Road Office, it will take about one hour to reopen this road.
The closures have caused long traffic jams, leaving many travelers stranded.
