After the Jenji generation movement on Bhadra 23–24 caused widespread damage to the central, provincial, and most district offices of the Nepali Congress, debates over leadership transition have intensified within the party.
In this context, Nepali Congress leader and former minister Ramesh Rizal stated that the party will move forward based on the decisions of its Executive Committee. Speaking to journalists at the party headquarters in Sanepa, Rizal said that a meeting of the Executive Committee would soon be held to decide whether to hold a special general convention.
He condemned the attacks on the structures of a progressive and democratic party like Nepali Congress during the Jenji movement, expressing regret over the incident. Rizal emphasized that the party is serious about addressing the participation and demands of the Jenji generation.
“This should never have happened. Attacking the party is entirely condemnable, and I denounce it. Nepali Congress is a party with ideology. In the coming days, the people in the party’s second tier do have opportunities. Now, meetings of party officials and the Executive Committee will be held, and we will move forward based on their decisions. Whether to hold a special general convention will also be decided in these meetings. The party must address the demands of the Jenji generation,” Rizal said.
