
In Gulmi, a lightning strike has killed a young girl and injured five others, while three oxen also died, according to police reports.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Jhyanpani, Madane Rural Municipality–5, where four-year-old Riasa Bik, daughter of local resident Narsingh Bik, died after being struck by lightning while sleeping at home with her parents.
Riasa’s father, 23-year-old Narsingh, and mother, 22-year-old Suntali, were also injured and have been receiving medical attention. The injured couple was initially treated at a local medical facility and later referred to Pyuthan District Hospital for further care.
Another lightning strike occurred yesterday in Doholi, Isma Rural Municipality–4, injuring three people. The injured include 46-year-old Nirmala Khatri (Isma–4), 25-year-old Kalika Khatri (Isma–5), and 58-year-old Krishna Prasad Panthi (Bagla, Dhurkot Rural Municipality–7). Nirmala and Kalika were struck while at home, and Panthi was injured while threshing maize in his yard. All three are currently receiving treatment at Gulmi Hospital, Tamghas.
Meanwhile, in Khamdesh, Malika Rural Municipality–4, three oxen belonging to Durgaprasad Aryal and Chiranjivi Aryal died after being struck by lightning in a community forest.
