Senior leaders of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, were absent during the public release of the party’s election commitment document.
The document was made public at an event held on Tuesday at the party’s central office in Parisdanda. Following the absence of Nepal and Shrestha, party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ provided an explanation.
According to Prachanda, Madhav Kumar Nepal is currently hospitalized due to food poisoning, while Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who also served as the coordinator of the commitment document drafting committee, was in a district for election campaigning and therefore could not attend the event.
“Important leaders were not present during the release of the commitment document. Comrade Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the coordinator of the drafting committee, is not here today. Since my responsibility was already fulfilled and he had said he had no objection to making it public, the document was released with his consent. The coordinator and co-coordinator of the election mobilization committee were also informed. However, the co-coordinator could not attend as he is hospitalized due to food poisoning,” Prachanda said.
Other senior leaders from the parties involved in the unity process were also absent from the event.
