The Madhesh Province government has declared a public holiday today on the occasion of the Vivah Panchami festival.
The Ministry of Home, Communication, and Law of the province issued a notice on Monday stating that the holiday has been announced as per the provisions published in the official gazette. According to the notice issued by Section Officer Radheshankar Prasad Pal, the main celebrations of Vivah Panchami will take place in Janakpur. Vivah Panchami, celebrated every year on Margashirsha Shukla Panchami, marks the divine marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. As described in the Ramayan by Goswami Tulsidas, the people of Mithila observe this festival with great devotion and joy, commemorating the sacred union of Janaknandini Sita and Lord Ram.
