CPN-UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet has warned that if any commission summons UML leaders for statements, 100,000 party workers will enter Singha Durbar.
Addressing the announcement assembly of the National Volunteer Force (NVF), Basnet claimed that the “unconstitutional Karki Commission” has been spreading rumors about calling leaders for statements. He warned that if such a move is made, twice as many people as those present at the assembly would march toward Singha Durbar.
He stated that unlike the anarchic groups of Bhadra 24, the NVF would not engage in vandalism or arson. “We will not vandalize Singha Durbar like the anarchists of Bhadra 24,” he said. “Instead, we will bid farewell to Sushila Karki’s ministers from Singha Durbar with garlands.”
Basnet also announced that they would hold a mass gathering inside Singha Durbar with the presence of 100,000 people. Responding to allegations of targeting children of political leaders as “nepo babies,” he claimed that the children of 11 individuals connected to the current government—including the Prime Minister and ministers—are living abroad.
“The Prime Minister, ministers, and 11 government-linked individuals have their children living abroad,” Basnet said. “The ‘nepo baby’ dads and moms are the ones running the government. This is not acceptable.”
