A man has been arrested on charges of defrauding an individual by promising overseas employment in the United Kingdom.
The accused has been identified as Rahul Punj (31), a resident of Janaknandini Rural Municipality-3, Dhanusha, currently living in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-1, Bhaktapur.
According to police, Punj was arrested on Saturday from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11 following a complaint filed by a victim who alleged that he had been defrauded of Rs 4.2 million.
Spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Kaji Kumar Acharya at the Valley Crime Investigation Office said the victim approached the police after Punj went into hiding with the money.
The suspect has been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, for further investigation and legal action, SP Acharya confirmed.
