The main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), has expressed strong objection to the reported agreement between India and China to use the Lipulekh border point for trade, and has demanded the government’s official stance on the matter.
Speaking in Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Maoist Centre Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey urged the government to brief Parliament on its position following the India-China understanding.
He called for strengthening national unity to safeguard Nepal’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressed that all sides should remain united in defending Nepal’s national interests. Pandey also urged the government to initiate diplomatic dialogue to address the issue.
