The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has clarified that although broad discussions are being held with various political parties regarding party unity, no final decision has been made so far.
In a statement issued by the secretariat of party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, it said:
“While intensive discussions are ongoing with various sides for party unity considering the needs of history, no agreement has been finalized yet. Therefore, the claims made on social media and some media outlets about party merger are baseless.”
According to the statement, as per the decisions of the party’s Central Committee, the Maoist Centre is holding in-depth ideological and organizational discussions with political parties associated with the Socialist Front, as well as other leftist and progressive groups, with the aim of forming unity and a joint front to complete the tasks of the Nepali socialist revolution.
The statement further reads:
“However, no final decision has yet been made regarding unity with any party. The CPN (Maoist Centre) believes that unity is essential to protect the revolutions and struggles led by the Nepali people in various phases and to complete the remaining historical responsibilities.”
