Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has been remanded to four days in police custody for further investigation. The Kathmandu District Administration Office granted permission to keep him in custody for four days.
Prasai was arrested late Monday night from his residence. He had recently announced that he would begin a nationwide protest from the second week of Mangsir and had been actively preparing for it.
He faces charges of disturbing peace and security. A police team arrived at his house around midnight to take him into custody. Supporters of the “Dharma-Sanskriti and Citizen Protection Campaign” staged demonstrations protesting his arrest.
