A merger announcement ceremony has been organized between the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) led by Rajendra Lingden and RPP Nepal led by Kamal Thapa.
Earlier, on Poush 9, Lingden and Thapa had signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize the merger. The announcement ceremony is being held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
After losing to Lingden in the party’s general convention, former party president Thapa had announced his departure from RPP on Magh 25, 2078.
During the RPP general convention in Mangsir 2078, Thapa had alleged that the former king and Nirmal Niwas had intervened to ensure his defeat. Following this, he announced the formation of RPP Nepal on Falgun 7, 2078.
