
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the monsoon trough is currently located near its average position, with increasing influence of monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal.
On Thursday afternoon, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in the hilly regions of the country, while the rest of the areas will remain partly cloudy. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the Tarai region of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in the hilly areas of Sudurpashchim and Karnali provinces.
Similarly, tonight, the weather will generally remain cloudy across the country, with moderate rainfall likely in many places of the hilly regions. Heavy rain is expected at one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in the Tarai regions of Lumbini and Koshi provinces.
The department has warned of potential landslides and debris flows, rising water levels in both large and small rivers and streams, and possible disruption to transport. It has urged the public to remain cautious and make necessary preparations.
