The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has stated that the monsoon trough is currently located at its average position in the east, while it lies further south than average in the west. Due to the influence of a low-pressure system around Sikkim, eastern Nepal is expected to be affected.
According to the Division, this afternoon, hilly regions of the country will experience generally cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall is likely in some places of the hilly regions and a few places elsewhere. One or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Karnali provinces may witness heavy rainfall.
Similarly, tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Madhes Province, and the country’s hilly areas, while partly cloudy weather will prevail in other regions. Some places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as a few places in the hills and Terai, are likely to experience moderate rainfall. One or two places in the Terai region of Koshi Province may see heavy rainfall.
The Division has warned of potential landslides and debris flows, rising water levels in large and small rivers and streams, and possible disruptions in the transportation sector. It has urged the public to remain alert and make necessary preparations.
