The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has reported that the monsoon trough is currently positioned near the average location in the east and slightly south of the average in the west.
According to the division, the weather across the country is generally partly to mostly cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
This afternoon, the hilly regions of the country are expected to remain mostly cloudy, while other areas will see partly cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall in some parts of the hilly regions and at a few places in the Terai. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
Similarly, tonight, partly to mostly cloudy conditions are expected, with mostly cloudy skies over the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati Provinces. Moderate rainfall is likely in some areas of these provinces, as well as at a few places in other hilly and Terai regions. One or two places in both the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi Province are likely to receive heavy rainfall, according to the division.
