More than four dozen influential leaders and elected representatives from various districts have quit the CPN-UML and joined the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
At a program held at the party headquarters in Parisdanda, former Madhesh Province Assembly members, former rural municipality chairpersons, current vice-chairpersons, ward-level elected representatives, and UML leaders from districts including Syangja and Okhaldhunga formally entered the NCP.
The new entrants were welcomed into the party by NCP Convenor Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Co-Convenor Madhav Kumar Nepal, who offered them tika during the event. Those joining the party include Pralhad Giri, elected from Parsa district in the 2017 provincial assembly election, Dr Anju Yadav, former chairperson of Bindhyabasini Rural Municipality Shrilal Sah Kanu, current vice-chairperson Jyoti Chaurasia, leaders Laxman Chaurasia, Hanif Ansari (former ward chair), and Rajkumar Gupta (parliamentary representative).
Others who joined the party include former ward chair of Bindhyabasini Sanjay Chauhan, RPP provincial member Chintu Tiwari, UML general convention representative Uttam Tiwari, ward chair candidate Achhelal Mukhiya, Bahudarmai Municipality mayoral candidate Bipin Yadav, former ward chair Ramrekha Singh, ward chair Birendra Yadav (Ward No. 7), Radha Baitha, Mina Devi Baitha, Pokhariya Municipality deputy mayoral candidate Upendra Thakur, UML leader from Syangja Islam Miya, and UML leader from Okhaldhunga Sitaram Gurung, among others.
Welcoming the new members, Co-Convenor Madhav Kumar Nepal said the Nepal Communist Party provides an environment where everyone is respected and does not need to exert pressure to obtain positions and opportunities. Congratulating the entrants, Convenor Prachanda thanked them for making the right decision at the right time.
Stating that unity is essential to protect the nation, national identity, and sovereignty at a time of national crisis, Prachanda said the new entries have infused additional energy into the party. He added that positive influence and attraction toward the Nepal Communist Party are increasing nationwide and emphasized the need to move forward together with the people in favor of a socialist revolution.
