Candidate registration for the direct election of members to the House of Representatives scheduled for Falgun 21 is taking place across the country today. The Election Commission has stated that all necessary preparations have been completed, with election offices established in all 165 constituencies nationwide for candidate registration.
The Commission has urged all political parties and concerned candidates to avoid any show of force or extravagance and to reach the election offices in a peaceful and dignified manner while filing their nominations.
For nomination registration, a copy of the citizenship certificate or a copy of the voter ID card is mandatory. Similarly, proof that the candidate’s name is included in the final voter list of a municipality or rural municipality is also required.
In addition, if a candidate is currently holding a salaried position in the Government of Nepal, provincial government, or local level, or in any institution owned, controlled, or subsidized by the federal, provincial, or local government, proof of resignation from such a post must be submitted. The prescribed form appointing representatives as per the relevant schedule is also required.
