Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has emphasized that the party is not just a national party but a key national force responsible for steering the country.
Speaking at a party enrollment program organized today by NC Lalitpur at the district party office in Nakhhipot, Thapa said that with national power comes national responsibility, and when national power falters, the country bears the cost.
“Congress requires power not just for elections but to provide solutions for the country. NC is not just a party but a national force, and therefore it needs courage and support. In the past, Congress has brought the country out of violence and has proven that even in defeat, it works for the country’s victory. The party has always tried to include everyone,” Thapa stated.
He added that while other parties may benefit from elections, it is Congress that ensures the country progresses. He stressed that Congress does not incite crowds or create excitement; instead, it manages citizens frustrated by misgovernance and guides the country toward good governance and development.
“Congress must once again take responsibility for steering the country and correct past mistakes and weaknesses,” he said. Thapa noted that the return of former members to the party will strengthen NC’s power.
Lalitpur NC President Jitendra Kumar Shrestha highlighted that the party had achieved 56 percent victory across the district in the last local elections and expressed confidence that it would achieve further success this time. The event also saw the enrollment of several members, including Ward Chairpersons Nirmal Tandukar (Ward 1) and Ganesh KC (Ward 13), Sushil Sapkota, and Jitendra Gajurel.
