Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bishwo Prakash Sharma has claimed that a transformed Congress will emerge as the largest party in the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
Speaking at a party interaction program organized by Nepali Congress Rupandehi in Bhairahawa on Thursday under the House of Representatives Election–2082, Sharma said that based on information received from various parts of the country, the Congress is set to become the leading political force.
He stated that the party is moving toward securing a majority to once again lead the country. “Winning is not new for Congress, and neither is losing. But this election is special and serious,” he said.
Sharma also questioned why the election, originally scheduled for 2084, had to be held in 2082. He stressed the need for a serious review of incidents that resulted in 74 deaths, as well as the fire damage at Singha Durbar and the Parliament building, which caused billions of rupees in losses. He said voters would be approached after evaluating these events.
Former Home Minister and former central member of NC, Bal Krishna Khand, said a Congress majority is essential in the upcoming election. He urged party leaders and cadres to unite to ensure victory. Highlighting that the Gautam Buddha International Airport was constructed under a Congress-led government, he said its effective operation would also be possible under Congress leadership.
Central member and Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Abdul Razzak claimed that only Congress can resolve the country’s problems and stressed the need to elect the party to institutionalize past achievements.
Bharat Kumar Shah, the Congress candidate for the House of Representatives from Rupandehi Constituency No. 5, said the party has changed and now the country needs change. He emphasized the importance of making the country corruption-free.
Raju Khanal, coordinator of the Congress Lumbini Province Election Mobilization Committee, stated that only a Congress-led government formed after Falgun 21 would be able to address the demands of the Gen-Z generation. He added that Congress leadership is necessary to protect the constitution and ensure stability.
The program was also addressed by NC Rupandehi District President Ram Krishna Khand, former central member Ganga Shahi, and other leaders.
