The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has decided not to field its own candidate for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives. Instead, the party has announced its support for Dolprasad (DP) Aryal, the candidate from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP).
NCP Chief Whip Yubaraj Dulal informed that the party will not register a candidacy for the Speaker post. Aryal, who serves as Vice Chairman of the RSWP, has already registered his nomination for the position.
However, the NCP has laid claim to the Deputy Speaker position and is preparing to field a candidate if a consensus is reached.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has also decided not to register a candidate for Speaker. The party stated that the ruling side holds a comfortable majority in Parliament and that the Speaker is expected to be a consensus figure, leading to its decision not to contest the post.
