The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has disconnected the power lines of 18 more industries that failed to pay electricity charges despite using dedicated feeders and trunk lines. The authority carried out the disconnections on Friday.
The industries affected include Himal Iron, Triveni Synthetic Yarn, Cosmos Cement, Panchakanya Steel, Shyam Plastic, Goenka Foods, SR Steel, Panchakanya Plastic, Balwari Automatic Factory, Jagdamba Synthetic, Everest Rolling, Gharana Foods, Vishal Cement, SR Foods, Siddhartha Pet Plast, Butwal Cement, Sona Minerals & Oils, and Nigale Cement.
Earlier, on Tuesday, NEA had disconnected power lines of Jagdamba Steel, Reliance Spinning Mills, Shivam Cement, Ghorahi Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement, and Triveni Spinning Mills for similar reasons.
These industries had not paid the additional charges for using dedicated feeders and trunk lines from Magh 2072 to Baisakh 2075 (Nepali calendar).
NEA had issued a notice on Asoj 12, canceling all administrative review-related procedures and instructing the industries to settle their arrears by Kartik 17, offering a 28-month installment facility for those willing to pay. The notice was revised on Asoj 13, giving industries until Kartik 2 to make payments.
Following the notice, industries like Hama Iron & Steel, Sarvottam Cement, Hulas Steel, Ashok Steel, Samrat Cement, Rolpa Cement, and Nav Nepal Plastic Industries have utilized the 28-month installment facility to clear their dues.
