Nepal’s national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines, will begin direct flights to Guangzhou, China starting Ashwin 9. This will be the first time the airline operates a Kathmandu–Guangzhou–Kathmandu flight service.
According to Executive Chairman Yubaraj Adhikari, all technical preparations for the flights have been completed, and the airline has received the necessary permissions for the Guangzhou route. Nepal Airlines has scheduled three regular weekly flights. The first flight will operate on Ashwin 9, followed by flights on Ashwin 12, Ashwin 30, Kartik 2, and Kartik 6. Thereafter, direct flights to Guangzhou will operate every Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday. The airline has set the one-way fare at NPR 30,000 and the round-trip ticket at NPR 50,000.
Chairman Adhikari stated that after long efforts, Nepal Airlines has successfully expanded its services to this important Chinese city. The airline is also preparing to launch direct flights to South Korea and Australia from Kathmandu in the near future.
Currently, China Southern Airlines operates regular flights on the Kathmandu–Guangzhou route, and Himalaya Airlines has been running flights on this route from Nepal. With a high number of Nepali passengers expected, the new Nepal Airlines service is projected to bring financial benefits to the carrier.
International Expansion: 11 Destinations Across 9 Countries
With the addition of Guangzhou, Nepal Airlines will now operate regular flights to 11 international destinations across 9 countries. Using its two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft, the airline currently flies to Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dubai (UAE), Hong Kong, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru (India), Bangkok (Thailand), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), and Narita (Japan).
As a national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines’ international flights play a historic role in strengthening diplomatic relations and attracting more foreign tourists, and the airline believes it will continue to serve this purpose in the future.
