Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 29-member preliminary squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Challenge Trophy.
The players have been called up for training ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Rwanda from April 12 to May 2.
The Women’s Challenge Trophy is a newly introduced initiative by the International Cricket Council aimed at providing emerging cricket nations with greater exposure and competitive opportunities. The tournament will feature top teams from five ICC development regions: Africa, Americas, Asia, East Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
Participating teams include the United States (Americas qualifier), Nepal (Asia qualifier), Italy (Europe qualifier), Vanuatu (East Asia-Pacific qualifier), and hosts Rwanda (Africa qualifier). The event is separate from the Emerging Nations Trophy and is linked to regional qualification pathways for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The preliminary squad includes players such as Indu Barma, Puja Mahato, Rubina Chhetry, Sita Rana Magar, Bindu Rawal, Samjhana Khadka, Rubi Poddar, Kabita Joshi, Riya Sharma, Roma Thapa, Suman Bista, Anu Kathayat, and Simana KC.
Other players in the squad are Rajmati Airee, Manisha Upadhyay, Rachana Chaudhary, Sony Pakhrin, Sana Prabin, Khushi Dangol, Sudha Dhami, Kiran Kunwar, Laxmi Saud, Alisa Yadav, Trishna Bik, Kusum Godar, Yashoda Bista, Angie Pathak, and Rama Budhathoki.
The ICC is expected to publish the full match schedule at a later date.
