Ashok Raj Sigdel held a courtesy meeting with Joel Vowell, Deputy Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, at the Army Headquarters in Kathmandu on Monday.
According to the Nepali Army, the meeting held at the Army Headquarters involved in-depth discussions on military relations and various issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
Vowell and his delegation arrived in Nepal on Sunday as part of a regular regional visit after traveling through India and Bhutan.
During their stay, the delegation is also scheduled to visit the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre in Panchkhal. The visit aims to observe the training center and learn about the role played by the Nepali Army in international peacekeeping operations.
The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army stated that the visit of the US military delegation is expected to further strengthen the decades-long relationship between Nepal and the United States, particularly in areas such as humanitarian assistance, disaster management, and global peacekeeping cooperation.
The delegation led by Vowell is scheduled to depart for Thailand on Tuesday after completing their visit to Nepal.
