Nepal defeated India in a penalty shootout thanks to an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar.
The match ended in a 1–1 draw during regular time, leading to a penalty shootout where Nepal emerged victorious with a 3–0 win.
Both teams scored one goal each in the first half. In the 30th minute, India’s Saumya Goguloth capitalized on a misplaced pass by Nepali defender Nisha Thokar to give India the lead.
However, Nepal equalized during the second minute of first-half injury time. Rashmikumari Ghisings scored a beautiful header from captain Anita Basnet’s corner kick to level the match at 1–1.
In the penalty shootout, Nepali goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar became the hero of the match. She made two brilliant saves, securing Nepal’s victory over India.
For this unofficial friendly match, Nepal’s head coach Nabin Neupane made 10 changes from the previous game, giving opportunities to new players. In the absence of regular captain Sabitra Bhandari (Samba), Anita Basnet led the team as captain.
India also fielded an entirely new starting XI for the match.
