
Nepal registered an impressive victory over Oman in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier Super Six match held on Wednesday night, winning by 38 runs.
Chasing a target of 152 runs, Oman managed to score only 113 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Oman, Mohammad Nadeem scored 25 runs and Vinayak Shukla added 32, while other batsmen failed to make significant contributions.
For Nepal, Gulshan Jha was the standout performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs in his 4 overs. Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav took two wickets each, while Sandeep Lamichhane claimed one wicket.
Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Nepal scored 151 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Kushal Bhurtel played a vital innings, scoring 69 runs off 51 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. Fellow opener Aasif Sheikh contributed 24 runs, while captain Rohit Paudel managed just 1.
Vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee was dismissed for 2, Kushal Malla scored 7, Aadil Alam made 16, and Gulshan Jha added 18 runs. Nandan Yadav scored 9, and Sompal Kami remained unbeaten on 1.
With this win, Nepal has climbed to the top of the Super Six standings with 8 points, while Oman stands second with 6 points.
Nepal, having already defeated UAE and Qatar, will play its final Super Six match against Samoa on Friday.
