
Nepal has been knocked out of the SAFF U-17 Championship after suffering a 3–0 defeat to defending champions India in the second semifinal held today at the Colombo Racecourse in Sri Lanka. With this victory, India advanced to the final of the tournament.
For India, Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam, Ajlan Shah, and Diamond Singh Thokchom each scored one goal, with all goals coming in the second half. Gunleiba opened the scoring in the 61st minute, Ajlan extended the lead in the 80th minute, and Diamond added a goal during injury time to seal the win.
Nepal had reached the semifinals as the Group A runner-up, having defeated Sri Lanka 2–0 in their first match but losing 4–0 to Bangladesh in the second. India entered the semifinals as the Group B winner, having won all three of their group-stage matches by beating Maldives 6–0, Bhutan 1–0, and Pakistan 3–2.
