
The Government of Nepal has decided to open Chulu Far East Peak for mountaineering. The decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Shrawan 18.
While announcing the decisions of the meeting, government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the government has decided to approve the publication of the decision to open Chulu Peak for climbing in the Nepal Gazette.
According to him, the government has also approved the National Strategy and Implementation Action Plan 2082 for ending child marriage. Likewise, the National Labor Migration Policy 2082 has been approved.
Cabinet Meeting Decisions:
– To form a Project Review Panel (PRP) including subject experts Dr. Pawan Kumar Shrestha, Dr. Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, and Dr. Ganesh Prasad Neupane, in line with the project development agreement between the developer of the Arun-3 Hydropower Project and the Government of Nepal (Investment Board); to approve the PRP agreement and authorize the CEO of the Investment Board to sign on behalf of the government.
– To provide income tax exemption for FY 2082/83 to construction or service provider companies working under MCA-Nepal (registered as branch or permanent establishment) on income earned from MCC funding (including Nepal’s contribution), in accordance with Article 18(1) of the Financial Act 2082; and to publish this exemption in the Nepal Gazette. Also, to approve the Implementation Letter related to the tax exemption on MCC funding as per Article 3, Clause 3.5 of the agreement signed on 14 September 2017 between the Government of Nepal and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
– To determine the terms of service and other facilities of the Chairpersons and Members of the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappearances and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
– To promote Joint Secretaries Nirmala Adhikari Bhattarai (currently acting secretary, Truth and Reconciliation Commission) and Indira Dahal Bhattarai to Special Class Gazette-ranked Secretary posts of the Nepal Law Service and appoint them respectively as Secretaries of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Nepal Law Commission.
– To approve participation of the Secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply in the experience-sharing program on Regulatory Reform in Nepal, held in Malaysia from Bhadra 10 to 12, 2082.
– To approve participation of AIG Rajan Adhikari of Nepal Police and APF AIG Banshiraj Dahal in the UN Senior National Planners Course for National Planners from Troop and Police-Contributing Countries, to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from Asoj 6 to 17, 2082.
– To issue an order prohibiting strikes in essential services as per Article 3(1) of the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014, and to publish the information in the Nepal Gazette.
– To approve the Letters of Exchange regarding the establishment and operation of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Nepal and authorize the Foreign Secretary to sign on behalf of the Government of Nepal and send the exchanged letters to UNOPS.
– To grant approval to Chandragiri Municipality for use of three ropanis of land registered in the name of the Government of Nepal at:
- Former Mahadevsthan VDC Ward No. 8 (Kha) of Kathmandu district for the construction of the Ward Office of Chandragiri Municipality-7, and
- Former Ward No. 2 (Kha) for the construction of the Ward Office of Chandragiri Municipality-5.
– To appoint Anil Raj Paudel of Chitwan as the Vice-Chairperson of the Youth and Small Entrepreneur Self-Employment Fund.
– To approve the use of 3.37 hectares of national forest land by United Mewa Khola Hydropower Limited for the construction of a 132 kV transmission line under the Mewa Khola Hydropower Project in Ward No. 3, Meringden Rural Municipality, Taplejung.
– To approve the use of 3.632 hectares of national forest land by Jalashakti Hydro Company Ltd. for the construction of the Ilep (Tatopani) Khola Hydropower Project in Ward No. 4, Rubi Valley Rural Municipality, Dhading.
– To approve participation of State Minister of Forests and Environment Rupa BK in the Ehwa International Workshop on Climate-Induced Landslide and Sustainable Recovery to be held in South Korea from Shrawan 26 to 27, 2082.
– To approve the Fifth Amendment to the Technical Education and Vocational Training Council (CTEVT) Regulation 2082.
– To open Chulu Far East Peak for mountaineering and to publish the notice in the Nepal Gazette.
– To approve the participation of the Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in the 28th UPU Congress to be held in Dubai, UAE from Bhadra 23 to 29, 2082.
– To approve the National Strategy and Implementation Plan 2082 to end child marriage.
– To approve the National Labor Migration Policy 2082.
