Nepal was defeated 4–0 by Bangladesh in the SAFF Under-17 Championship. The match took place on Thursday evening in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Bangladesh’s goals were scored by Sabir Islam, Mohammad Opu Rehman, Mohammad Arif, and Mohammad Manik.
Nepal’s progress to the semifinals will now depend on the result of the Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka match. Nepal currently has 3 points from 2 matches, while Bangladesh has 3 points from 1 match. Sri Lanka, having played one match, is yet to earn any points. Nepal can advance to the semifinals if Bangladesh beats or draws with Sri Lanka.
In the championship organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are in Group A, while India, Pakistan, Maldives, and Bhutan are in Group B. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals following the round-robin league stage.
