Nepal Police Club secured their first victory in the Prime Minister Cup One-Day National Cricket Tournament, setting a historic record for the highest total in the competition’s history.
In Tuesday’s match, Police Club defeated APF Club by a massive margin of 185 runs. While Police Club celebrated their first win, APF suffered their first defeat of the tournament. APF had previously beaten Bagmati by 71 runs in their opening game, whereas Police had lost to Army by 22 runs.
Chasing a daunting target of 356 runs, APF were bowled out for just 170 runs in 44 overs. Nandan Yadav remained unbeaten on 44, while Kamal Airee scored 35 runs. Sandeep Jora contributed 24, Puran BK made 20, Asif Sheikh added 18, and captain Rohit Paudel scored 11.
For Police Club, Lalit Rajbanshi took three wickets, while Dinesh Kharel, Karan KC, and Rashid Khan claimed two wickets each. Sagar Dhakal picked up one wicket.
Earlier, at Mulpani Cricket Ground, APF won the toss and chose to field. Batting first, Nepal Police Club posted a record total of 355 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Four Police Club players scored half-centuries. Shankar Rana made 61 runs off 54 balls, hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes. Dinesh Kharel scored 60 runs from 52 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Dilson Ali remained unbeaten on 51 off 30 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Arif Sheikh also added a half-century, scoring off 42 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Rashid Khan contributed 44 runs, Amrit Shrestha scored 39, and Gulshan Jha added 23. Karan KC scored 6 and Kushal Bhurtel made 4 runs. Lalit Rajbanshi was run out for a duck, while Sagar Dhakal remained not out on zero.
For APF, Amar Rautela and Kamal Airee took two wickets each, while Nandan Yadav, Rohit Paudel, and Yubaraj Khatri picked up one wicket apiece.
