Nepal Rastra Bank has instructed banks and financial institutions to operate limited banking services even during the upcoming Holi and election holidays. The directive was issued through a public notice on Sunday.
According to the instruction, on public holidays banks must ensure the continuation of essential services through designated commercial banks handling government transactions. These services include payment arrangements, revenue collection, and the deposit and payment of cash, cheques, or other negotiable instruments related to election campaigning by political parties and candidates.
The central bank clarified that the directive was issued at the request of the Election Commission.
